Geese

Baby geese and their parents swimming in the big pond last month. Considering the number of coyotes around here, it's amazing that all of them have survived.

Baby Purple Martins

 Lots of baby purple martins have hatched recently. Of 52 compartments, there are babies in half of them. I cleaned out 8 invasive sparrow nests and did not bother 6 nests with new martin hatchlings.

Busy Night Creatures

 Lots of action in the front flower bed at night. Spiders, praying mantis and swallowtail butterfly caterpillar.

Fern Lake Trail, Rocky Mountain Natl. Park, June 23

Ari and I hiked the Fern Lake Trail on the east side of the park, through the burned forest and to Cub Lake. The fall fire was intense; it destroyed thousands of trees and a few bridges.
